Co-Founder, Herban Acres
Adam Souza grew up around agriculture, fascinated by his father’s lifelong passion for plants. Plugging trays by the age of 7, he was taught the importance of farmers. At a young age, Adam showed interest in building businesses, from lemonade stands, to hustling Pokémon cards. He also showed a liking toward a certain plant early on, cannabis. It helped with his social anxiety which pushed him part his comfort zone and into sales. After years in sales and business building for others, never feeling fulfilled, Adam decided to combine his passions for business, cannabis and helping farmers into something he could be happy doing. Hemp.
With his partner Andrew Wilkinson, they have created Herban Acres. They are building a hub for hemp in Taunton, MA. Andrew and Adam believe they can help struggling farmers by showing them how to grow hemp. Hemp is what build this great nation, and it is what will make it even greater.

Amanda Rositano is the president of NETA and a recently appointed member of the Cannabis Control Commission’s Cannabis Advisory Board. Amanda served as a key member of the NETA start-up team, which successfully launched and continues to operate the largest medical and adult use marijuana organization in Massachusetts and the first to transact an adult use sale. Her passion for serving medical marijuana patients began during her time serving as Staff Director in the MA state legislature, where she worked toward the passage and implementation of medical marijuana laws and reliable patient access. Amanda’s diverse background in hospitality, public policy and operations has contributed to her sharp ability to create systems and methods for maintaining compliance, promoting safety and enhancing efficiency while maintaining an outstanding experience for NETA’s patients and customers. Importantly, Amanda has nurtured a culture of compliance and inclusion at NETA and has been key in building a rewarding and enjoyable workplace for NETA’s diverse and talented team.

Andi Goldman is the Managing Member of the Equitas Partners Fund, which invests in early-stage cannabis companies in the US and Canada. Andi’s been involved in the cannabis industry since 2014 as an investor, advisor and financial executive, including as the founding CFO & Head of Corporate Finance for FLRish, the management company for the renowned Harborside dispensaries and grow operations. Andi’s been integral as a principal or advisor in raising capital and negotiating financings for both cannabis and hemp companies.
Andi has managed more than $2Bn in institutional investments to date and has been underwriting investments for almost 30 years. Prior to cannabis, Andi was a corporate and securities lawyer, investment banker, senior portfolio manager and senior underwriter, including in private equity at GE Capital and healthcare banking at RBS Citizens.
Andi is a frequent speaker, investment shark, and mentor in the cannabis industry. She holds an MBA from Yale University, a JD from Duke University and a BS in Business Administration from SUNY Albany (graduating magna cum laude). She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst®.
Director of Public Policy, National Cannabis Industry Association
Andrew Kline is NCIA’s Director of Public Policy. In this new role established in early 2019 at NCIA, Andrew leads NCIA’s substantive public policy efforts, striving to prepare and protect the state-legal cannabis industry. He will also lead NCIA’s Policy Council, a group of NCIA members focused on influencing federal and state public policy.
Kline most recently served as President of the National Association of Cannabis Businesses (NACB), the first self-regulatory organization for the high-growth cannabis industry. At the NACB, Andrew led the creation of national standards for the state-legal cannabis industry, oversaw its standards governance board, and led day to day operations and strategic planning.
Kline has a deep and celebrated background in public policy, law enforcement, and coalition creation/management. He is renowned for his ability to create solutions to complex domestic and global public policy issues that appeal to both private and public constituencies.
Prior to joining the NACB, Kline was Special Counsel for the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Enforcement Bureau where he was responsible for high profile investigations and public policy negotiations affecting the telecommunications, internet, cable and satellite industries. He also served as Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor for Intellectual Property Enforcement in the Executive Office of the President [Obama] where he led public-private partnership and public policy efforts to address online trademark theft, copyright infringement, consumer safety, national security, and the protection of domestic business interests globally.
He served as senior policy advisor to then-Senator Biden and Vice President Biden, and spent fourteen years as a federal prosecutor.
Mr. Kline is admitted to the California, Colorado and District of Columbia bars, and holds a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

He is a member of the board of New England Partners in Faith and is currently serving in his third term as president of the Council of Churches of Western Massachusetts.
Archbishop Timothy Paul is the Patriarch of the International Communion of the Holy Christian Orthodox Church. Brett Greene is an inventor, entrepreneur, strategist and cannabis science geek. For over a decade, he’s been a Research Administrator for the Center for Drug Discovery at Northeastern University under the direction of world-renowned cannabinoid scientist Alexandros Makriyannis, PhD. He is the manager of the Chemistry & Pharmacology of Drug Abuse, a National Institutes on Drug Abuse (NIDA) sponsored conference that meets annually and brings together the top minds in drug abuse research, an umbrella under which he manages to fit cutting edge, and regularly positive topflight research on cannabinoids. Commissioner McBride previously served as Legal Counsel to the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety within the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS), Deputy Counsel to the Massachusetts Senate, and for seven years as an Assistant Attorney General in the Attorney General’s Office, where she also served as Chief of the Policy and Government Division and Deputy Chief of Staff. Her work there included foreclosure prevention efforts, including establishment of the national model HomeCorps program and working to pass first-in-the-nation homeowner protection legislation; helping to overhaul of the state’s victim compensation law to provide additional resources to victims of violent crime; helping to craft legislation to provide jail diversion to veterans; development of the first comprehensive report on human trafficking and working closely with law enforcement and other partners on drafting the state’s landmark 2012 human trafficking law. She also led the establishment of the Attorney General’s Office of Open Government. McBride is a graduate of Holy Cross and Suffolk University School of Law.

Mr. Dickerson, a Mattapoisett native and Army Veteran, has a deep understanding of the requirements for successfully operating a business in a highly regulated industry and has demonstrated this through years of success in multiple regulated states. After seeing his father spend 10 years in prison as a result of the war on drugs, he decided to enter the regulated cannabis industry in 2009 as a patient consultant at a Colorado-based medical marijuana collective and returned to New England to become a registered caregiver in RI. As Managing Member of Controlled Environmental Services, LLC (CES), he has designed and built cultivation and processing infrastructures for several successful applicants in MA including Bask. Chauncy Spencer has become, not only an entrepreneur, but an advocate for inclusion and equity on the frontier of this emerging cannabis industry here in Massachusetts. The end of prohibition has brought many opportunities for him to collaborate with lawmakers, regulators, entrepreneurs, and activists in shaping the local industry to be welcoming to people of color, like himself, who have been most affected by the war on drugs.
He is the founder of High Tech Farms, a minority owned economic empowerment certified cannabis company that is aspiring to open a cultivation facility and dispensary in Mattapan Square named “The 420”. He is responsible for the first adult-use application submitted in Boston for either cultivation or retail sales, and his company is the second in Massachusetts to receive economic empowerment certification from the Cannabis Control Commission.
Chauncy is a Boston native and lifelong Dorchester resident where he is a single parent raising three children who attend Boston Public Schools. As a laboratory technician at Dana Farber Cancer Institute for 13 years, he demonstrated his curiosity and aptitude to learn and develop software and other systems in a regulated environment. Chauncy went on to use these, and other skills acquired from his biochemistry training at UMass Dartmouth, to develop a high-pressure aeroponics system for horticulture, which he is planning to use for cannabis cultivation.

Chris has more than 10 years’ experience related to expertise in agricultural and controlled atmosphere technology with clients in the fresh fruit & vegetable sector and in the medical cannabis sector in the USA, Canada, Europe, South America, and Israel. Chris’ team includes designers, researchers, engineers, architects, energy efficiency consultants, and growers.
In 2014, Chris started collaborating with this “tech dream team” to study the indoor cultivation sector and particularly what started to happen in Colorado with the cannabis crop, which Chris prefers to refer to as cannabinoid and terpene plants. Colorado being “ground zero” of legal commercialization on large scale of this crop was a good start to start taking notes on how this plant was being grown outdoors and indoors. The team walked around visiting a multitude of green houses and indoor horizontal grows, and started taking notes on every topic from structural design of the facilities, equipment selection, and of course energy efficiency. Two of the top growers in Colorado joined Chris’ team to collaborate on the following topic: how to grow the best consistent quality within pharmaceutical standards using the least amount of energy which contributes to the lowest operational cost, while having an environmentally friendly position. The study continued for four years supported by research and development financial support from the Canadian federal government, and finally lead to a large scale commercial design that uses up to 20 times less land space, 20 times less water, 10 times less labor, and 5 times less energy use compared to other models currently present in this industry which are horizontal indoor cultivation centers.
Chris believes that by tweaking the performance dials in an indoor cultivation facility, this will change farming models worldwide for many crops we rely on either for pharmaceutical, recreational, or nutritional products.

Chynah Tyler was born and raised in Roxbury, MA which established a special place in her heart for the district. She credits programs offered to her as a youth with an authentic sense of pride as a Roxbury native. This pride, coupled with much prayer encourages her to represent the residents of Boston.
She attended Boston Public and Charter schools. Although a dedicated athlete, she excelled academically as well and was accepted into the Crimson Summer Academy at Harvard University. Upon completion of high school and simultaneously graduating from the Crimson Summer Academy, she continued her education earning her Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Law, Policy and Society from Northeastern University.
She began her career as a Case Manager for Federal Inmates assisting those nearing release with securing employment, housing and most importantly, community support. Tyler realized there are a host of barriers that contribute to recidivism. Because of that, grew to understand the importance of the role state government plays in delivering valuable resources to the most vulnerable populations.
Her career focus shifted as a Legislative Aide in the Massachusetts State Senate, working to secure funding for programs like Residential Assistance for Families in Transition Program (RAFT), community college reform, environmentally-friendly organizations, as well as volunteering at the Probation Department of the Roxbury Division of the Boston Municipal Court.
In 2016, at just 26 year old, Tyler ran a successful campaign to succeed long-time incumbent for the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 7th Suffolk District. She is currently serving her second term as a Massachusetts State Representative, and is the Vice-Chair it the Public Health Committee and Chair of the Boston Delegation.”

David O’Brien is the President and CEO of Massachusetts Cannabis Business Association with a mission to convene, voice, and advocate for the Commonwealth’s cannabis business community and ancillary services. David has spent his career providing public engagement, government relations and strategic communications counsel to the private, public and non-profit sectors at the state, national and international level. A pioneer in the Massachusetts Cannabis industry, David previously served as the director of East Coast government relations for Weedmaps where he led strategy for cannabis legalization, regulation and taxation. He also developed and provided municipal officials with data-driven research to inform effective adult-use cannabis zoning laws.
In the course of a political and communications career that has spanned thirty years, David has served as President of North Bridge Strategies, worked on eight US presidential campaigns – four as a staff member, and served as a Clinton Administration presidential appointee at the Corporation for National Service and US Small Business Administration. David also held senior positions on Governor Deval Patrick’s political action, inauguration, and campaign finance committees.

David Torrisi has been the Executive Director of the Commonwealth Dispensary Association since October 2017. Prior to joining the CDA, David was the principal and founder of Torrisi Strategic Advisors, a lobbying and government relations firm focused on providing clients the insight and alliances needed to navigate state bureaucracy and develop relationships with public officials. He was a Massachusetts State Representative for fourteen years and currently is Chairman of the North Andover School Committee. David is an attorney, having received his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School and is a graduate of the University of Vermont.

Dr. Monica Taing graduated from Northeastern University with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree where she completed Endocannabinoid Receptor System research. Dr. Taing serves as a Board Member and the Membership Director of Doctors for Cannabis Regulation (DFCR), the Director of Research and Clinical Education for Minorities for Medical Marijuana (M4MM), a Medical Science Liaison for 4Front Ventures, and as a cannabis pharmacist and clinical consultant specialist for hospital systems and academic medical institutions.
Dr. Taing strategically implements her expertise as guidance for multi-state licensed dispensaries, grower/processor facilities, and other enterprises in multiple states. She works to design and deliver fact-based clinical cannabis education to advocate awareness for underserved patient populations and the healthcare community. Ellen Taylor Brown is the founder of Sinsemilla Seminars. Her passions for education stems from being a teacher in the United States Air Force where she received Air Combat Command – Nutritional Medicine Airman of the Year 2008. This year at the New England Cannabis Convention Community Awards she was awarded New England Cannabis Business Leader of the Year.
After her service Ellen moved to Humboldt Country and began her career in the cannabis industry. She became the manager and lead cultivator of a dispensary in Northern California for a number of years. In 2012, Ellen moved to her home state of Massachusetts. She saw there was a need for education and she started teaching and consulting. Her budding business, Sinsemilla Seminars, has been flourishing; holding lectures nationwide.

Dr. Keith Saunders is a sociologist whose professional work focuses on drug policy and social movements. He has been researching marijuana culture and the marijuana policy reform movement, with special attention given to the relationship between marijuana’s prohibition and its popularity, since 1999. Dr. Saunders has presented his findings to audiences at the Annual Meetings of the American Sociological Association and the Society for the Study of Social Problems, as well as at NORML’s annual conference and the Hemposium at Seattle Hempfest. He has taught “Drugs and Society” and related courses since 1995 at Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts. Kelley Crosson is a horticulturist, designer, and cannabis advocate who
has worked in the field of horticulture since 1992, when she served as a
Children’s Garden program intern for Strybing Arboretum Society in San

organic gardening principles and practices to children ranging in age from 7-14

Since 2015 Stephen has been advocating for disabled veterans, mental health awareness, disease of addiction awareness, and medical cannabis as a form of harm reduction to combat the opioid overdose epidemic, and the veteran suicide crisis. With a focus on research and data, sharing his personal experiences, combined with Stephen’s passion to serve have him sought out by members of Congress at the federal level and state legislators on the local level when it comes to these matters. His work provides thousands of veterans across the commonwealth with access to
medical cannabis through programs with private businesses making the medicine a more affordable option for disabled veterans that rely on the Department of Veterans Affairs for the healthcare.

Steve’s obsession and experience with broadcast media began more than a decade before his formal training at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. At that time, many were still undecided as to whether or not digital and social media platforms were the metaphorical new frontier or a flash in the pan. Dr. White has been a professor of marketing & international business at the Charlton College of Business sinc 1998. From January 2006 through May 2010, he served as chairperson of the department of management and marketing in the Charlton College of Business and from June 2010 through June 2012, as director of the university’s sustainability studies program during which time the university’s graduate certificate in sustainable development was developed and launched. Since 2000, he has co-organized and guided 200+ students on alternative spring break task force missions to 24 cities in 15 countries (Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Cape Verde, Chile, China, Costa Rica, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal (including Azores) and Spain). Tara J. Hopper, Esq., is currently the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Licensing for Columbia Care (Patriot Care – Massachusetts), a multi-state operator for the cultivation, manufacturing and dispensing of medical and adult use cannabis. Tara has been navigating the regulatory landscape for cannabis in Massachusetts since January 2017 when she began lobbying for MassCann/NORML, and then worked as General Counsel to Garden Remedies, another vertically integrated medical and adult-use cannabis company in Massachusetts until coming to Columbia Care in September 2019. Tara comes to Columbia Care with over 15 years of experience working in public policy, regulatory and government affairs and has worked closely with both the Florida and Massachusetts legislature and executive agencies. Tara gained expertise navigating through government processes when she began working as Chief of Staff to a Florida State Senator in 2003, and focused on Health Law in her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) program, and completed a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Health Law and Public Policy with an emphasis on FDA law and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance. Tom Sannicandro is currently the Director of the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges representing the interests of the 156,000 community college students across Massachusetts. He formerly served as the Director of the Institute of Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He was a State Representative in Massachusetts for 12 years, six years as the Chair of the Joint Committee on Higher Education. He has a Ph.D. from Brandeis University, an MPA from Harvard University, a law degree from Suffolk University and a BA from the College of the Holy Cross. He has published in the area of higher education, educational opportunity for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and in the area of health care access for children with special health care needs.

Dr. Valerie Roberson
President, Roxbury Community College
Valerie R. Roberson has been a community college administrator for over 30 years. She has served as president, vice presidents of academic affairs and of institutional advancement, dean and director of various programs, faculty member, researcher, and student advisor. Currently, Dr. Roberson is President of Roxbury Community College (RCC) where she has led the transformation of the College through $72M in construction projects; re-staffing of the College leadership team; stabilization of College finances; realignment of academic programs to ensure student transfer and employment; and compliance of all operations with external agency standards. She has inspired innovations including the elimination of developmental education, increased use of online instructional materials (reducing costs for students), and the provision of social services to assist students in degree completion. These changes have led to increased rates of student retention, transfer, and graduation.
One of Valerie’s passions is conserving and saving resources for both the environment and the College. At RCC, a college parking lot was converted to provide three cost-saving measures that also reduce energy consumption: geothermal wells as part of the system that heats and cools the campus; a solar canopy that collects energy that is sold to the local provider; and electric car charging stations are provided for community use. This work was recognized by the Governor’s 2017 Leading by Example Award and by a 2018 Better City‘s Leventhal Award.
Dr. Roberson earned her doctorate in higher education administration from Illinois State University in 2002. She holds a master’s degree in adult education: employee training and development from Roosevelt University and a bachelor of science in psychology from Bradley University.
Vietnam Veteran; Board Member, IAVA and National Veterans Legal Services Program Inc.
Wayne is an accomplished veterans advocate who has worked with war veterans for nearly four decades. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, he was an altar boy and choirboy. After serving nearly 18 months in Vietnam as a combat medic, Smith overcame his own wartime trauma before becoming a nationally recognized mental health therapist and advocate for war veterans. Smith has led educational programs about veterans and the causes and consequences of war, and helped raise more than $2 million for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. In 1998, Smith returned to Vietnam with 20 American veterans to promote peace and reconciliation. Together with 20 Vietnamese soldiers, these former enemies rode bicycles 1,200 miles, from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, to help heal some of the wounds of that war. Smith is one of the veterans featured in the Emmy Award winning documentary about the experience.
