Mayor Nicole LaChapelle
Nicole LaChapelle was sworn in as Mayor of Easthampton in January 2018. Previously, she worked for twenty years as senior strategist and director at the Center for School Crisis Intervention, which educates and advocates for public school students with a wide range of behavioral and physical capabilities. In 2016, she served as Chief of Pupil Services for Holyoke Public Schools, overseeing district special education services and related compliance functions. Admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 2002, Mayor LaChapelle has also worked on legal issues pertaining to Taft – Hartley and ERISA labor laws and regulations as well civil rights advocacy, especially in the field of education and disabilities. In her time as Mayor, LaChapelle has focused on reducing barriers to development and secured Opportunity Zone and Housing Choice Initiative status to attract private investors to develop complex sites in Easthampton. In addition, she has secured a 45 million dollar state grant to build a consolidated PreK – 8th grade school. Mayor LaChapelle’s vision for Easthampton centers on creating smart growth, good paying jobs, and affordable housing that supports and bolsters the success of residents and the community as a whole. As Mayor, she strives to improve quality of life for all while ensuring that municipal government is accessible and transparent.
